Submission Guidelines

Submissions Close February 28th, 2024
All entries will be considered for publication in the seventh edition of Ampersand Pages, set to release in May of 2024.
What We Accept:
Prose: Prose must be fiction or creative nonfiction, 750 words or fewer. Excerpts of longer pieces are allowed as long as they are able to stand on their own.
*Maximum of one piece can be submitted to the prose section.
Poetry: Poems must be 100 lines or fewer. Multi-part poems may be submitted, but must total fewer than 100 lines.
*Maximum of one piece can be submitted to the poetry section.
Art: Submit either a high-quality photograph (if traditional) or file copy (if digital) of your work. If your piece is approved, but the photo/file quality is not acceptable, an email will be sent by the Ampersand staff requesting another and offering photography assistance (as appropriate).
*Maximum of two pieces can be submitted to the art section.
AI Generated or Plagiarized Art will be immediately removed.
A Note About Content:
As Ampersand Pages is a school-sponsored publication that will be available to the public, content must be school-appropriate and represent the highest caliber of artistry that KM Perform has to offer. We will not accept fan fiction or any pieces based on the work of other creators. Any pieces that do not adhere to the rules listed on our "Standards" page will not be accepted.
How to Submit:

Submit your work by filling out the submission form here. The form will ask you to provide your name, grade, and email as well as viewable Google Drive links to your piece(s).
Approval Process:
Editors will contact writers with updates after receiving their submission. Our editors will work with you to polish the piece for publication. We ask for your cooperation and swift response during this process, which will take place from March 1st to March 24th. We reserve the right to reject pieces that violate the Ampersand Pages guidelines.
Copyright:
When artists submit their work, they grant Ampersand Pages permission to publish their work online and in print. Any profits from the sale of the print journal will support the KM Perform Writing Program. Ownership rights will always reside with the artist. In addition, by submitting their work, artists assert that the work is original. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will be reported to the KM Perform staff.

Accepted works will be published online on the Ampersand Pages website and in a print journal to be released in May of 2024.
